Looking for the easiest succulents to propagate? We all love propagating succulents, whether through a leaf or stem cuttings. After all, we can who can say no to another plant added to your collection. Seeing the succulents grow is really fun and can give you a sense of fulfilment as you see them grow.
The amount of joy is truly priceless when you nurtured them and eventually become a matured plant.
Based on my personal experience the easiest succulent to propagate is the graptopetalum paraguayense or popularly known as the Ghost plant. It has around a 90% success rate on propagating either by leaves or stem cuttings.

I listed down the other easiest succulents to propagate most especially when you are a beginner and just starting out with your collection. These succulents are extremely great to grow and propagate either by leaf or stem cuttings. Given that they will be nurtured in a well ventilated and indirect bright environment, they will be thriving and grow into a new plant.
Easiest succulents to propagate:
1. Graptoveria Ebony Mendozae

A beautiful hybrid of Echeveria Agavoides Ebony and Graptopetalum Mendozae. This graptoveria has chunky leaves that are perfect for propagation. They are compact and relatively small, one of their distinguishing marks are the freckles that you can find on their leaves (which I think is really cute!). They are also so prolific and can produce lots of offsets
2. Sedum rubrotinctum

Sedum Rubrotinctum popularly known as Sedum Jelly beans. You can’t really resist the cute round chunky leaves of this succulent. It is one of my favourite succulent filler in my bowl arrangements, hence It’s really nice to have loads of this succulent.

Sedum Rubrotinctum comes in different forms: the Sedum rubrotinctum (green ones), the sedum rubrotinctum variegated and the sedum rubrotinctum Aurora (Pink jelly beans).
3. Echeveria Amoena

Echeveria Amoena is a small and compact succulent. It is one of my first echeveria given to by my dear friend. It is a great echeveria for beginners as it is not fussy at all. Echeveria Amoena is a great succulent if you love propagation. It is so prolific and vigorous in growing either from leaves or stem cuttings.
4. Graptoveria Acaulis

Graptoveria Acaulis is a hybrid of Graptopetalum paraguayense and Echeveria Amoena. Both parents are extremely cold hardy, hence this wonderful graptoveria can withstand cold climates up to -15 to -17 degrees Celsius. This succulent is also one of the easiest succulents to propagate based on my personal experience. You can simply grow it by leaf or stem cutting with no fuzz at all.
5. Graptoveria Milky Way

If you love purple succulents, Graptoveria Milky way will surely be a hit for you. This graptoveria is one of the easiest succulents to propagate whether from leaves or stem cuttings. Graptoveria Milky Way is so prolific and dense, hence you can easily get a lot of chance to propagate them. Once they flower, I typically use the leaves from the flower stalks to start my leaf propagation batch. Try to stress them to see the beautiful colours that look like a milky way with its hues of purple, blue and red.
6. Graptopetalum Paraguayense

Graptopetalum Paraguayense is indeed a mouthful to say. It is popularly known as ghost plant. Its nickname comes from its colours when it is exposed to the high intensity of light, that it turns to marble white in colour. Its growing habit tends that they grow like a vine with a beautiful rosette at the end. This succulent is considered as one of the easiest succulents to propagate either thru leaf or stem cuttings. Graptopetalum paraguayense is a cold-hardy succulent hence it is perfect for a succulent basket that you can display outside all year round.
7. Graptosedum Alpenglow / Bronze

The reddish-bronze hues and chunky leaves of Graptosedum Bronze is a great addition to our list of easiest succulents to propagate. This plant is also popularly known as xGraptosedum ‘Alpenglow’ and xGraptosedum ‘Vera Higgins’. It is a hybrid of Graptopetalum Paraguayense and Sedum Stahlii. It can tolerate cold temperatures up to -10 degrees Celcius. The Graptosedum Bronze can easily be propagated via leaves and stem cuttings. This succulent is truly prolific! Based on experience, one of my mature Graptosedum Bronze managed to offset 10 more pups! I have managed to create a big basket of succulent arrangement.
8. Sedum Oreganum

Sedum oreganum is a rosette cold-hardy sedum that is a great candidate if you want to grow your collection through propagation. You can propagate Sedum Oreganum through stem and leaf cuttings. When stressed, they turn into a bright red colour that’s great for your rockery display. The sedum oreganum is also a perfect addition for your succulent arrangements or a ground cover. It is winter hardy succulent so having it outside the whole year won’t be an issue.
9. Crassula marnierana hottentot

Crassula Marnierana Hottentot is a cute trailing succulent. It is also known as the strings of button. You can distinctly see where it gets its nickname as it looks like buttons stack together. You can easily propagate this succulent through stem cutting. You can either stick it in soil or have It rooted in water.
10. Crassula Calico Kitten

Crassula Calico Kitten is a variegated heart-shaped trailing succulent. It also looks stunning in succulent arrangements. When stressed, it turns into a bright red colour and really stands out. Crassula Calico Kitten is one of the easiest succulents to propagate most especially via stem cutting. You can just stick them in soil or place the cutting in water.
11. Othona Capensis

Othona Capensis is commonly known as Ruby’s necklace. I personally love this trailing succulent due to their forgiving nature and no-fuss care at all! They are absolutely easy to grow and propagate. Each nodes on its stem can grow roots when placed on soil. Hence it is one of the easiest succulents to propagate. Othona Capensis best propagated by stem cuttings. Its leaves doesn’t produce any off-shoot unlike other succulents.
12. Crassula Ovata
Crassula Ovata is popularly known as Money plant or Jade plant. In oriental culture, Jade plant is believed to bring good luck and prosperity to your household once the plant is given to you as a gift. Crassula Ovata is also one of the easiest succulents to propagate. You can propagate this plant either by leaf or stem cuttings. Crassula Ovata also has some other variations that are also easily propagated: Crassula Ovata Minima, Crassula Ovata variegated and Hummel’s Sunset.
13. Echeveria Elegans

Echeveria Elegans is one of the common succulents that you can easily get from the garden centres. They are also commonly known as Mexican snowball with their Glaucus hues and ball-shaped form. It is a UK winter hardy succulent, so you would not have any problem leaving this in your alpine garden. Echeveria Elegans is one of the easiest succulents to propagate either by leaf or stem cuttings.
