Hi! I’m Ryazan Duray – Tristram.
A confessed succulent-holic! Succulent’s beauty, forms and colours are hard to resist. Moreover, they are low maintenance given the right conditions for them to grow.
My interest in plants began back home in the Philippines, wherein my late aunt influenced me to care for plants at a young age. She loves all sorts of plants and most especially, orchids. She had her own little corner in her garden specially made to house her orchids and protect them from the tropical heat and humidity.
As a kid, my mom used to have a little patch garden with tomatoes, mung beans and other tropical plants in pots. I used to help her in growing these plants and vegetables in front of our house.
When I moved to the city to study and work, the urban environment where I used to live is not really great for keeping plants. So when I moved here to the UK, I thought of buying my first orchid to make my office space a bit more cheerful.
That was the beginning of my plant mom life! Since I do have my full-time work and as well as my travel blogging site, Everything Zany, I started to look for low maintenance plants hence I bumped into succulents when searching online. Roughly at the same time, a close friend of mine was also in search of succulents.
To cut the story short, that was the start of my succulent addiction! I met lots of awesome plantita/ plant mom and dad friends along the way.
I created the Zany Plant World blog so I can share my experience in growing succulents and houseplants with others. I hope that the contents of this blog will inspire others to make their urban jungle oasis dream come true.
